In response to the heatwave conditions in Mumbai during the month of May, IIFL Foundation, in collaboration with Yashlok Welfare Foundation and Mumbai Traffic Police, launched the “Heat Shield Initiative” to support frontline traffic police personnel serving across the city.
Under this preventive healthcare CSR initiative, 12,000 Electral ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) sachets are being distributed to Mumbai Traffic Police personnel stationed at key traffic junctions to help protect them from dehydration and heat-related illnesses during extreme summer conditions.
Traffic police personnel in Mumbai spend long hours managing traffic, maintaining law and order, and ensuring road safety while standing continuously under direct sunlight and high temperatures. The initiative aims to support their health, endurance, and wellbeing as they continue serving millions of citizens every day.
The distribution drive was initiated during a program organised at Chunabhatti Traffic Police Station near Suman Nagar Junction in Mumbai. The event was attended by Shri Pradeep Chavan, DCP Traffic Police, Eastern Suburbs Mumbai, Ms. Madhu Jain, Director of IIFL Foundation, and Mr. Alok Adhikari, Director of Yashlok Welfare Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, DCP Pradeep Chavan appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the importance of supporting frontline personnel working under challenging weather conditions. Ms. Madhu Jain highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and the need to stand with communities and public service personnel during extreme climate conditions. Mr. Alok Adhikari emphasized the shared commitment of both organizations towards community welfare, public health, and frontline support initiatives.
The “Heat Shield Initiative” reflects the collective effort of organizations working towards preventive healthcare, occupational safety, and public welfare through meaningful CSR interventions.
In an era where environmental degradation and road fatalities continue to emerge as two of India’s most pressing concerns, innovative and integrated CSR interventions are becoming increasingly important. Addressing both challenges through a single sustainable model, Yashlok Welfare Foundation has been implementing its flagship CSR initiative, Waves to Wheels, in collaboration with leading corporate partners including IFFCO TOKIO General Insurance Company Ltd., IIFL Foundation, Inorbit Malls India Pvt. Ltd., and other socially responsible organizations.
The initiative represents a unique convergence of environmental sustainability, circular economy practices, livelihood generation, and road safety awareness. Through the project, more than 2,500 ISI-certified helmets manufactured using recycled plastic have been distributed across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to police personnel, college students, gig workers, delivery executives, and members of the general public.
Transforming Plastic Waste into Life-Saving Safety Equipment
The Waves to Wheels initiative was conceptualized with the vision of creating measurable environmental and social impact through sustainable resource utilization. Under the project, plastic waste is collected from both ocean-facing and land-based waste streams, including coastal areas, urban litter zones, and environmentally vulnerable locations across Mumbai and surrounding regions.
The collected plastic waste undergoes systematic segregation and recycling processes, wherein suitable ABS plastic is scientifically processed into recycled granules. These recycled plastic granules are subsequently utilized in the manufacturing of helmet shells for ISI-certified safety helmets.
By converting discarded waste into life-saving road safety equipment, the initiative demonstrates a practical circular economy model that simultaneously reduces environmental pollution and promotes public safety. The project contributes towards diverting plastic waste away from landfills, drains, and marine ecosystems while creating productive and socially beneficial reuse applications.
Environmental Sustainability with Community Participation
Plastic pollution continues to pose a severe threat to urban ecosystems, marine biodiversity, and public health. Through Waves to Wheels, Yashlok Welfare Foundation has integrated environmental conservation directly into CSR implementation by establishing a structured plastic waste collection and recycling ecosystem.
Underprivileged women engaged in waste collection and segregation activities play a critical role in the initiative, thereby creating income-generation opportunities for economically vulnerable communities. The project also supports waste management and environmental sanitation efforts by promoting responsible recycling and reuse practices.
In addition to environmental restoration, the initiative contributes towards safeguarding marine ecosystems by reducing plastic leakage into coastal and oceanic environments. Every quantity of waste plastic collected and recycled under the project directly contributes towards cleaner coastlines, reduced pollution levels, and improved ecological sustainability.
Skill Development and Livelihood Generation
A key pillar of the project is sustainable livelihood enhancement through skill development and employment generation. Tribal communities from Palghar, Maharashtra, are provided with skill development opportunities linked to recycling operations, stitching activities, assembly support, and manufacturing processes associated with helmet production.
The initiative is designed around the belief that employment is one of the most effective forms of empowerment. By integrating marginalized communities into the project value chain, Waves to Wheels promotes long-term economic participation and inclusive development.
The project also creates opportunities for underprivileged groups, including women and persons from economically weaker sections, thereby strengthening community resilience through sustainable income generation models.
Promoting Road Safety Awareness Among Youth and Urban Commuters
Road safety awareness forms a central component of the initiative. Special awareness programs and interactive sessions were conducted across multiple colleges in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in collaboration with traffic police authorities and institutional stakeholders.
The sessions focused on responsible riding behaviour, traffic discipline, helmet compliance, accident prevention, and the importance of using certified protective equipment. Students and young commuters were educated through practical demonstrations, real-life examples, and interactive engagement sessions designed to encourage long-term behavioural change.
Alongside awareness activities, helmets were distributed to a wide spectrum of beneficiaries, including traffic police personnel, gig workers, delivery executives, college students, and members of the general public who rely heavily on two-wheelers for daily commuting.
By ensuring access to quality ISI-certified helmets, the project directly contributes towards reducing the risk of severe head injuries and fatalities arising from road accidents.
A Multidimensional CSR Model
The Waves to Wheels initiative reflects a holistic CSR framework that simultaneously addresses environmental sustainability, preventive healthcare, livelihood enhancement, road safety awareness, women empowerment, and rural development.
The project aligns with multiple focus areas under Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, including:
Environmental sustainability and waste management
Preventive healthcare and road safety
Education and awareness generation
Skill development and livelihood enhancement
Rural and tribal community development
By integrating sustainability with social impact, the initiative demonstrates how collaborative CSR partnerships can create scalable solutions for complex urban and environmental challenges.
Driving Sustainable Impact Through Collaboration
Through strategic collaboration with corporate partners, educational institutions, traffic police authorities, and local communities, Yashlok Welfare Foundation continues to strengthen the impact and reach of the Waves to Wheels initiative.
The project stands as a powerful example of how environmental responsibility can be transformed into meaningful community welfare outcomes where plastic waste is converted into protection, livelihoods are generated through sustainability, and road safety awareness helps save lives.
As India moves towards a more sustainable and socially responsible future, initiatives such as Waves to Wheels reinforce the importance of integrated CSR models that create measurable impact across environmental, social, and public safety dimensions.

On 12th September 2025, an inspiring sustainability milestone unfolded in Udaipur. Rajasthan Police received ISI-certified helmets made entirely from recycled ABS plastic that once polluted oceans and littered landfills. The event was attended by IPS Gaurav Srivastava (Inspector General, Udaipur Range), IPS Yogesh Goyal (Superintendent of Police, Udaipur District), Madhu Jain (Director, IIFL Foundation), and Alok Adhikari (Founder & Director, Yashlok Welfare Foundation).
The initiative is part of Waves to Wheels, a CSR program by Yashlok Welfare Foundation with support from IIFL Foundation. The project tackles two urgent challenges simultaneously — plastic pollution and road safety — while creating dignified livelihoods for marginalized communities.
Plastic waste collected from Mumbai’s coastline and surrounding urban areas was repurposed into helmets, demonstrating how a pollutant threatening marine life can be reborn as a life-saving safety device. Behind this transformation are tribal communities from Palghar, underprivileged women, and persons with disabilities, all trained and employed through Yashlok Welfare Foundation’s skill-development program.
💡 Why It Matters
♻️ Thousands of kilograms of ocean-bound plastic diverted from ecosystems.
👩🏭 Sustainable income opportunities for disadvantaged groups.
🛣 Road safety awareness extending to over crores people across Rajasthan.
This event showcases the power of cross-sector collaboration — corporate partners, law enforcement, and NGO uniting to turn waste into a force for good. It’s a reminder that thoughtful recycling and community empowerment can create ripples of change: cleaner oceans, safer roads, and stronger livelihoods.
Yashlok Welfare Foundation, with the generous support of Inorbit Malls (India) Pvt. Ltd., proudly partnered with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation to provide specially manufactured raincoats made from recycled PVC plastic. This initiative is part of our larger vision under Waves to Wheels & Beyond—a program dedicated to tackling plastic pollution, fostering sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing road safety.
From Waste to Protection
The raincoats were crafted using PVC plastic waste collected from Mumbai’s beaches, the Mithi River, and surrounding landfills. What was once harmful waste threatening marine and urban ecosystems has now been transformed into durable, 100% recyclable raincoats that protect those who safeguard our communities.
Supporting Frontline Heroes
The beneficiaries of this distribution were NMMC’s dedicated workforce, who face heavy monsoon rains while ensuring the city remains clean, safe, and functional. Providing them with high-quality, weather-resistant raincoats not only enhances their working conditions but also acknowledges their invaluable service to society.
Sustainability with Social Impact
Each raincoat represents more than just protection against rain—it symbolizes a cycle of sustainability and social upliftment. By involving marginalized groups in the process of collecting, segregating, and recycling plastic waste, the project contributes to both environmental restoration and livelihood generation.
Gratitude to Our CSR Partner
This impactful project was made possible thanks to the generous CSR contribution of Inorbit Malls (India) Pvt. Ltd. Without their support, the transformation of waste plastic into life-protecting raincoats for frontline heroes would not have been possible.

In a remarkable union of entertainment, responsibility, and compassion, Yashlok Welfare Foundation and MTV’s iconic youth reality show, MTV Roadies – Karm ya Kaand, teamed up with the Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police for a groundbreaking road safety campaign.
The initiative’s message was reinforced as viewers witnessed a crucial road safety message from ADGP Ravinder Singal during a recent episode of MTV Roadies Karm ya Kaand. This message aims to promote responsible behavior on the roads, reaching MTV Roadies fans across the nation.
This initiative, aimed at raising awareness about road safety, saw MTV Roadies provide 500 branded helmets, courtesy of the Yashlok Foundation, to the Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police.
As per a press release, the collaboration underscores the show’s commitment to promoting road safety and responsibility while maintaining an element of adventure, staying true to the essence of MTV Roadies.
Humanitarian, philanthropist, and actor Sonu Sood, along with a dedicated team of traffic personnel, recently took to the bustling streets of Andheri West in Mumbai for this unique endeavor. In a surprising twist reminiscent of the show’s unexpected challenges, the team distributed helmets to individuals caught without proper headgear instead of penalizing them.
This act of ‘Karm’ aimed to encourage responsible behavior and ensure that road safety rules are followed in the future. The initiative aligns perfectly with the show’s spirit, emphasizing the significance of performing good deeds while holding individuals accountable for their actions.
Dr. Ravinder Singal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, saying, “As guardians of road safety, we are committed to making our streets safer for all. This unique partnership between MTV Roadies – Karm ya Kaand and the Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police has allowed us to emphasize the importance of road safety on a broader scale, reshaping mindsets and behaviors. We are grateful for MTV’s efforts on the streets of Mumbai today.” Yashlok Welfare Foundation and MTV Roadies – Karm ya Kaand’s collaboration with the Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police serves as a shining example of how entertainment can be harnessed to promote social responsibility and contribute to a safer and more responsible society. With this partnership, MTV Roadies has not only entertained but also made a significant impact on road safety awareness and encouraged responsible behavior on the streets of Mumbai and beyond
Yashlok Welfare Foundation collaborated as awareness partner with India’s leading youth entertainment brand, MTV, from Viacom18, one of the largest media conglomerates of the country, launched a brand-new culture-defining youth campaign, ‘MTV Question Marks’. As a part of the pro-socio initiative MTV organised a ‘mindset reorientation workshop for parents’ to reduce academic pressure on today’s youth.
The ‘MTV Question Marks’ campaign aims to create a seismic shift in perceptions of success, and the consequent academic pressure. By creating a nationwide movement that empowers the youth and parents to value individual growth and personal exploration, MTV stands at the forefront of championing a brighter, more balanced future for the youth of India.
The workshop took place in the presence of Cause ambassador and renowned writer, producer and mental health activist, Shaheen Bhatt, mental health experts Aanchal Narang – founder of Another Light Counselling, psychologist, Anureet Sethi – co-founder, chairperson, Trijog – Know Your Mind, general manager (IEC) Podar Education Network on the stage along with Trijog – Know Your Mind co-founder and CEO Arushi Sethi Shah and Drums Food founding member & COO Ankur Goel.
MTV’s latest campaign takes a bold step to redefine the role of academic marks as the sole measure of success. The campaign’s messaging ‘Marks Hai Benchmark Nahi’ is rooted in consumer insights. A comprehensive youth study by MTV, focused on 15-25-year-olds, showed that 60 per cent of them are closer to their parents than their friends. Interestingly, despite this affinity, more than half avoid debating their parents assuming they would not see their point of view. Based on this insight and the pressure to score high marks, MTV Question Marks aims to open a sustainable dialogue between youth and their parents, who they consider as the first and the safest harbour for difficult conversations.
MTV collaborated with highly qualified experts, creating a resource bank and providing channels of counsel and communication on their dedicated campaign microsite http://www.mtvquestionmarks.com. MTV also unveiled an impactful and novel brand film that elevates the core message of the campaign, questioning the overdependence on marks as a metric for a successful life. The film encourages parents to step up and change the narrative, by staunchly supporting and shaping their child’s unique path to success.
Speaking on announcing its latest campaign, Viacom18 head – youth, music, and English entertainment Anshul Ailawadi said, “MTV has never shied away from shining the light on themes that matter to young Indians. Our latest campaign, MTV Question Marks, is a clarion call for change. With this initiative, we hope to bring a mindset-shift amongst parents, to move beyond traditional academic benchmarks, and believe in the capability of young minds to define success on their own terms.”
The campaign will also promote the Government of India’s Department of Public Health and Welfare’s initiative, National Tele Mental Health Programme of India – Tele MANAS, a comprehensive mental health care toll-free helpline number that makes mental health services accessible and free to every individual. Yashlok Welfare Foundation, a renowned not-for-profit organisation, supported the cause as awareness partner.
Special guest Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police (ADGP) Additional Director General of Police Dr. Ravinder Singal shed light on the importance of youth mental health in the context of academic stress, saying, “The growing stress on kids today makes me want to share this important message with all parents. I really think that true success comes more from being brave and trying new things than just from grades. While grades show what a student remembers, they don’t show who they really are inside. Just getting good grades doesn’t mean you’ll be successful. There are many opportunities waiting for our kids. We should all work together to make sure our kids feel good mentally and emotionally, helping them find these opportunities. Let’s be a strong support for our kids, helping and understanding them instead of pushing them too hard. We should always listen to them, helping them in good and tough times. And if we think they need extra help with academic stress, it’s okay to ask experts. After all, grades are just one way to see how a kid is doing, kyunki marks hain, benchmark nahi.”
To expand the campaign’s reach, MTV has forged strategic partnerships. Snack Partner Epigamia, through its co-branded, limited edition yogurt edition with the tagline ‘Naye Zamane ka Dahi Shakkar’ packaging will add a creative dimension, enhancing the campaign’s visibility and appeal to a wider audience. Drums Food International co-founder & CEO Rahul Jain said, “We are proud to partner with MTV on this campaign, a noble initiative aimed at reshaping the way parents perceive success for their children. Our limited edition yogurt ‘Naye zamaane ka dahi shakkar’ symbolizes the support we offer to parents and students during the stressful exam season. We believe in nourishing not only bodies but also minds. It’s more than just yogurt; it’s a taste of confidence and well-being in every cup.”
On the association, psychologist and Another Light Counselling founder Aanchal Narang said, “Exams are often equated with a child’s capability to succeed, which is unfair threshold. With this campaign, we hope to create a space where parents can learn and understand their children in a way most have not before. We aim to help parents navigate through their children’s academic life while being empathetic and compassionate.” Youth Mental Health Partner Another Light Counselling, has been an integral collaborator in giving life to the parent-focused workshop, providing resources for mental health management and driving a meaningful conversation through it.
“We champion celebrating efforts, debunking the misconception that top academic performance defines worth. Our campaign emphasizes nurturing environments, acceptance, and mental health support, bridging the gap with Trijog.” added, Trijog – Know Your Mind CEO & co-founder Arushi Sethi.
Trijog – Know Your Mind co-founder and chairperson and Podar Education Network General Manager (IEC) Anureet Sethi mentioned, “We challenge the belief that academic success guarantees happiness. By prioritizing emotional resilience, empathy, and compassion, we pave the way for societal stability. Join our campaign to shift focus from IQ to EQ, creating a stronger, empathetic society.”

The project aimed to promote road safety by upskilling disadvantaged individuals and providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Universal Sompo General Insurance and Yashlok Welfare Foundation partnered to support people with disabilities, underprivileged women, and youth in achieving a sustainable livelihood. The beneficiaries of this collaboration were trained and employed to manufacture helmets specifically for the Mumbai Traffic Police. These helmets will play a crucial role in promoting road safety awareness on the streets of Mumbai.
A total of 2600 helmets will be provided free of cost to the Mumbai Traffic Police, with Universal Sompo General Insurance donating 1000 of them. The helmets are made from recycled plastic and are manufactured by individuals with disabilities and underprivileged women.

Yashlok Welfare Foundation’s ongoing initiative to empower people and transform lives completes yet another successful campaign.
In June 2021, Yashlok Welfare Foundation delivered raincoats to the Mumbai Police Department for welfare of the department.
These raincoats will protect the police personnel from heavy rains helping them to function better. The raincoats also serve as a beacon to promote messages for public interest. All the raincoats have prominently printed messages helping in creating public awareness and promoting education to follow traffic rules for road safety and to stop violence against Children and Women.
Since the month of January 2021, Yashlok Welfare Foundation, under the guidance of raincoat manufacturing company trained 60 underprivileged individuals who had lost their source of income due to the pandemic (40 Men and 20 Women) making them capable of manufacturing raincoats for the Mumbai Police personnel.
The manufacturing was planned in two shifts to expedite production of raincoats. First shift was a morning shift with 20 women and 10 men. Second shift was a night shift with 30 men. The entire manufacturing process was well planned after training and educating the employees to teach them a professional way of working as per the market standards. This enabled the employees to learn about a much broader aspect of the manufacturing process and not just making raincoats on a machine.
All this was achieved through generous donations and support and guidance from SBI General Insurance Company Limited, India Exim Bank, IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company Limited, Abhyudaya Co-op. Bank Ltd, Union Bank of India and L&T Financial Services in collaboration with CHIP Mumbai.
With the help of the new skill, the well trained and experienced people who were completely clueless on what to do just six months ago, can now confidently work in any manufacturing unit they want making them self-sustainable. This truly exemplifies our firm belief that sustainable employment is the most powerful form of empowerment and we will continue to work on training, upskilling, employing and empowering the underprivileged in future as well.
A simple deed can let someone see their family again. After witnessing shortage of blood inventory in current pandemic time, Yashlok Welfare Foundation joined hands with Tata Memorial Hospital Workers Union in Parel-Mumbai and organized a blood donation camp at Tata Memorial Hospital for the cancer patients. More than 400 people came in for donation and over 220 units of blood was donated by kind souls to help the needy. Blood donation is one of the wonderful way to contribute towards the society and save many lives. COVID pandemic has created several myths and disbelief regarding blood donation. Yashlok Welfare Foundation did not only do their bit to organize the blood donation camp but was also successful in spreading awareness and sensitivity about the much needed blood for the cancer patients of Tata Memorial Hospital. Donation of blood is very crucial as we continue braving the pandemic. Yashlok Welfare Foundation would request everyone to participate in such blood donation camps and donate blood.
India’s traffic Police force can be largely credited for reducing road accidents. Regulating traffic while being in constant danger themselves, they are primarily responsible for the safety and security of our lives on the road. Their own safety also depends how visible they are to oncoming traffic, visibility that is severely compromised in poor light conditions or at night. This risk is further accentuated on the highways where vehicle speeds are much higher than on busy city roads. Highways account for 55% of all road accidents and 61% of fatalities in India. Wearing reflective clothing vastly improves visibility of the wearer and has been adopted by Police personnel across the developed world. Research on Evaluation of Reflective Vest Options strongly supports the need for high visibility while directing traffic, assisting motorists, stabilizing an accident scene and conducting roadblocks. These situations generally are consistent with the regulatory requirements regarding the wearing of the reflective clothing. It notes that a driver at 48 kilometres per hour can detect a subject in non-reflective or dark clothing at approximately 70 feet (giving the subject approximately 1.5 seconds to react). At 88 kms per hour, the reaction time was under one second. Similar research in a simulated work zone concluded that, a driver detected a person in non-reflective clothing at 125 feet while they detected an individual in reflective clothing at 891 feet. Alarmingly however, a driver traveling at 56 kms per hour required 159 feet to stop. Hence, without the protection afforded to a person wearing reflective gear, drivers have little, if any, time to react to a potential collision ahead. Thus, due to the uniform colours, an officer conducting a traffic stop at night would, more than likely, not be seen in his or her uniform without the use of some reflective safety gear. This, and other similar research has led to developed nations considering reflective vests, illuminated apparel, or white clothing with reflective marking as a best practice today. We, Yashlok Welfare Foundation were more than happy to help provide the Highway Traffic Police (Maharashtra) with good quality reflective clothing. With the help of a generous donation from ACKO General Insurance Limited, Yashlok Welfare Foundation was able to design and deliver 3,000 reflective jackets with road safety messages, tailor-made to the specific needs of the police. The jackets provide sufficient protection from the elements and give the wearer a sharp look that befits a law-enforcement professional. Yashlok Welfare Foundation also works closely with the marginalised sections of the society that have faced extreme loss of livelihood and income due to COVID-19. Our endeavour to provide reflective clothing to the Maharashtra Highway Police Department also resulted in the direct employment of 35 individuals. We worked with a disabled woman entrepreneur and trained and employed 20 underprivileged women and 15 youth who had lost their jobs during COVID-19 pandemic. The entire process from training to delivery took over four months from November 2020 till February 2021. By the end of the project, they were well trained in garment manufacturing skills which are useful across the textile industry. Skill building, as never before, is now considered an instrument to empower the individual and improve his/her social acceptance or value. Yashlok Welfare Foundation believes that as micro-entrepreneurs, women not only make a huge contribution to national income, but they also create reliable social safety nets for their families and communities. Creating an atmosphere of inclusion & opportunity for the women will be a key factor in social & economic empowerment. This activity has not only achieved a respectable and sustainable means of employment for the underprivileged but provided them with a new skill set of stitching garments.
India is one of the busiest countries in the world in terms of road traffic. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Transport Research Wing, India ranks first in the number of road accident deaths across the 199 countries and accounts for almost 11% of the accident-related deaths in the World. Roughly around 17 accident-related deaths occur across India every hour. The total number of road accidents, while still a massive number has reduced markedly from over 5 lakh in 2015 to less than 4.5 lakh in 2019. India’s traffic Police force can be largely credited for keeping this number in check. As part of road safety awareness drive initiated by the Highway Traffic Police Maharashtra, Yashlok Welfare Foundation observed the ‘Road Safety Awareness Month’. The campaign was organised to initiate awareness about the number of road-accidents, their causes and their prevention as well as the importance of following traffic rules. The campaign will be instrumental in bringing down the number of casualties.
During Monsoon 2020, through donations from BookASmile Foundation and Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank Ltd., Yashlok Welfare Foundation provided high quality raincoats to Highway Traffic Police across the state of Maharashtra which protected the police personnel effectively during the heavy rains. These raincoats enabled the police personnel to manage traffic more efficiently and ensure safety of the people commuting by road. This protective gear also served as a beacon for road safety across the state of Maharashtra with relevant road safety messages prominently displayed for the benefit of people.
As India fights back the COVID-19 (aka Coronavirus) pandemic, disinfection and sanitization is among the biggest concerns for the authorities.
Many workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, police, pilots, railway workers and Safai Kamgar (Cleaning workers), are braving grave odds every day. India, pinning its hope of containing the outbreak on social distancing and a complete lockdown of major cities and towns. And the success is down to the efforts of unknown but selfless workers.
While doctors are fighting the battle inside hospitals, it’s the police who have to enforce the lockdown outside. Police personnel are in the front-line to combat Covid-19 and are still going out every day to win a war India can’t afford to lose.
Amidst these trying times, it is necessary that the police officials carry out their duty in sanitized conditions to keep the virus at bay. Police officers are on the frontline 24×7 to provide service to the public and those struck by the coronavirus while trying to stay virus-free themselves. As the officers operate selflessly without worrying about their safety, disinfection remains one of the much-needed step in shielding them amid the pandemic.
Doing its bit to help the police officials, Yashlok Welfare Foundation facilitated free of cost disinfectants to the Mumbai Police Department whose personnel are fighting day and night against the deadly virus. The disinfectants were provided with the help of donation and support from D K Flag Foundation – Mumbai.
The efforts put in by everyone to mitigate the effects of this pandemic are highly appreciated and Yashlok Welfare Foundation will always continue its efforts to help the ones doing their best to help others.
2.4 million Indians die of treatable conditions every year! Healthcare is a luxury which inaccessible for the poor. Health cannot be a privilege. Those in extreme need are usually socially excluded and face a lack of basic necessitates for reasons like living in underserved areas or social stigma of being affected with an incurable illness. Yashlok Welfare Foundation have donated to such person who was in extreme need and help them with resources like food, medical care, livelihood resources, sanitation, education, etc. to enable them to lead a normal life.
Yashlok Welfare Foundation is constantly struggling to continue to help people as they are not receiving the necessary support.
7% of Indians suffer from mental health disorders. The poor who experience debt, hunger, poverty, and hopelessness are more likely to suffer from mental disorders and cannot afford medical help. This is a vicious cycle. Thane Mental Hospital has been treating many such poor patients over 100 years.
Thane Mental hospital had approached Yashlok Welfare Foundation and asked them for raincoat donation during monsoon for the patients.
Free raincoats were distributed by Yashok Welfare Foundation to patients of Thane Mental Hospital.
These raincoats were for patients who have to be kept continuously occupied with some or other activities. If they are not kept busy, the empty mind gives them a chance of another mental attack.
All activities are conducted in the hospital premises.
The activities given to them include gardening. Hence during rains, they require raincoats to protect themselves from rain.
Yashlok Welfare Foundation realised the importance for this cause and immediately gave them free raincoats to the patients.
A free of cost medical camp was organised in collaboration with Hiranandani Hospital for Thane Traffic Police personnels,
As per the information gathered from police personnels, due to hectic routine where the police personnels have to work even during public holidays, they do not find time to look after their own health. Any single day off the work schedule goes in taking care of family work or personal work like banking or house maintenance related.
Hence to look after the police personnel who look after the road safety, we arranged this free medical check up.
The entire cost of the medical check up was taken care by Hiranandani Hospital.
Number of tests were done such as, basic screening – BMI ( Body mass index), Blood Pressure & Diabetes supported with Doctor Consultation.
During the medical camp many police personnels realised they need treatment on blood pressure and diabetes which they had never realised. The medical camp proved to be an eye opener for police personnels who now take precautions to take care of their own health through healthy life style and medication.
Yashlok Welfare Foundation has been actively involved in promoting education of underprivileged children in the past when we donated E-learning software to a tribal school in Konkanpada Zilla Parishad School in interior Maharashtra. We have endeavoured to provide the same support to underprivileged children in our locality as well.
We have sponsored the primary school education of children for the ongoing academic year and shall endeavour to do the same for more deserving children in times to come.
On occasion of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan , residents of Sanghmitra Hsg. Soc., Ambekar Nagar, Chunabhatti, Mumbai participated in cleanliness drive on 2nd October 2018 , from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm and clean all internal and external roads, parking areas. Around 60-70 residents participated in this drive. Residents also pledged not to throw the garbage in open and will guide others for the same.
At Yashlok Welfare Foundation, we firmly believe that employment is the strongest and most dignified form of empowerment. When individuals earn through their own skills and capabilities, they not only support their families but also reclaim confidence, self-worth, and independence. Our mission is to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women from underserved communities—both urban and rural—by equipping them with employable skills and connecting them to meaningful work.
To translate this mission into action, we collaborate with responsible corporate partners to execute manufacturing projects under their CSR initiatives. Through these partnerships, we bridge the gap between industry requirements and grassroots talent, ensuring that women who were previously unemployed or underemployed can become financially independent.
Our inaugural project, carried out in collaboration with Key Exports India, a reputed textile and garment manufacturing company, is a testament to this vision. Under this initiative, we trained and employed 18 women from diverse backgrounds—many of whom had been unable to secure stable income opportunities due to economic hardship and lack of formal employment experience.
Over a period of four months, these women were trained end-to-end in the manufacturing of raincoats supplied to Police Departments across India. From fabric cutting and fusing to stitching, finishing, quality checks, and final packaging, they gained hands-on experience at every stage of the production cycle.
This project not only created livelihoods—it instilled pride. The women were no longer just learning a skill; they were contributing to a product that supports the frontline protectors of our communities.
The success of this initiative has also opened doors for recurring manufacturing orders, ensuring continuity of employment. Moreover, the newfound skills empower these women to pursue further opportunities in the textile and garment industry, helping them build long-term, resilient livelihoods.
At Yashlok Welfare Foundation, this is just the beginning. We remain committed to expanding such partnerships, enabling more women to step into their potential, uplift their families, and shape their futures with dignity.
